We are very proud to be a part of the Washington Main Street Program! Following the Four Point Approach of The Main Street Program will help grow and revitalize Downtown Colfax. The Four Point Approach consists of utilizing the four committees listed below.
Outreach
Purpose: Deals with membership development, fundraising, and other organizational endeavors.
Example: Assisting & strengthening policy & documents, helping with the organization of events and programs, potentially sourcing and assisting with writing grants that meet our needs and mission of our organization, assisting with Business & Occupation Tax Credit pledges & private donations, etc.
Goal: Provide leadership and encourage a cooperative spirit to support a well-funded, action-oriented organization.
Promotion Committee
Purpose: Primary responsibility is to market a unified, quality image of the business district as the center of activities, goods, and services to retailers, shoppers, investors, and tourists.
Example: Bringing visitors to Colfax, promote new & existing businesses, focusing on the success & longevity of downtown Colfax to help sustain our local economy, etc.
Goal: Promote downtown as the historic, social, cultural, and economic center of the community.
Design Committee
Purpose: Foster an attractive visually coordinated image of the Downtown by capitalizing on its unique physical assets and heritage.
Example: Providing design input to enhance the aesthetic of our historical buildings and enhance the overall appearance of Main St, etc.
Goal: Provide a clean, inviting and safe district that capitalizes on our historic features and buildings.
Economic Vitality Committee
Purpose: Works to develop a market strategy that will result in an improved retail mix, a stronger tax base, increased investor confidence, and a stable role for the downtown as a major component of the city's economy.
Example: Build & retain strong relationships with potential & current investors, Work with building owners to assist filling storefronts, working with new businesses seeking storefronts, and focusing on the overall growth and sustainability of our community, etc.
Goal: Strengthen and broaden downtown's economic base.
